I've known what an ISBN is for as long as I can remember. I've been a reader since I was 4 years old and those numbers on a book cover or jacket flap always represented something secret. Add a barcode and you have a secret language.


  1. Ah yes, the ISBN! As a retired elementary school librarian, I, too, have had a long-lasting relationship with them. Also the Dewey Decimal System. :) I've been a prolific reader since learning to read in the first grade (73 years). Best regards to you, my friend. Ruby

  2. Hi Joyce .. like you - I did find out once what they mean ..but have now forgotten .. ok I can see the price ... now we've got those other funny things - for chip and pin?

    I remember when barcodes first came out back in the 80s .. I was in South Africa at the time ..
